This morning Y4 waited eagerly to find out what the surprise was on the visual timetable.
At 9.15am Mr Wisnia, our former Headteacher, came into class to talk about the Jewish faith.
Since reading The Lion and the Unicorn, the children were keen to learn more about Lenny's life. In the story Lenny felt left out because he didn't join in with the same things as the other children.
Today Y4 found out about some of the customs and festivals celebrated by Jewish people.
What it means to be Jewish
Mr Wisnia
Can you remember what this is?
Wearing a prayer shawl called a tallit, and a kipar
There are so many different people in the world, who are different in so many ways. I love the fact that you are so keen to find out about the faith and religion of others. If everyone did the same we might not have so many problems in the world...

I learnt some great stuff today, about Jewish people I found it paticulary interesrting I really enjoyed it,I loved the videos they were really good too.
Thank you for coming in Mr Wisnia I realy enjoyed your presentation. I learned a lot about the Jewish faith today. It was a great suprise, I never knew that you had to wear a prayer shawl in the synogue and thank you for bringing the bread in it was delicious.
I really enjoyed to day and we found out what Fieldhead Carr was in Hebrew and tasted some of the bread that they eat on the Sabbath Which starts on Friday evening when the sun goes down. I enjoyed getting dressed up in a shawl called a tallit, and a kipar.Thank you Mr Wisnia.
Today,I really enjoyed it,I found out alot of infomation about the jewish faith, the bread was nice its sweet though,I can not wait till learning logs are handed out im going to really enjoy this target and I will learn even more about jewish faith then,I was shocked when Mr Wisnia said that the children have a type of pot that you put candles in and every night a candle is put in they get a pressent for nothing,it was a great suprize thank you Mr Wisnia.

This is a fascinating post about one of the world's great religions. I particularly liked the video "The Story of Chanukha" because it talks of the right to worship in freedom.
In one of my classes, I once had five world religions in the one room. They were Christian, Muslim, Baha'i, Hindu and Buddhist. When we had multicultural days, it was interesting to see the mix of clothing and food from around the world. There are so many interesting cultures in our world.
What a fabulous video for the kids to watch. It's such an interesting religion with many great stories. Olivi has been asking lots of questions. This video has reminded me of lots of the facts.
Alice was really excited about Mr Wisnia's visit. She was telling me about all the things she had learnt from it, when she came home. I wish RE was that interesting when I was at school!
