Elle

We have been using the book The Lion and The Unicorn for the last few weeks and on Friday the Big Write task was to write a diary entry as Lenny Levi.
Deciding which one should be showcased was very hard but I managed to make a decision.

Here is Elle's incredible diary entry. Please leave her some feedback.

Big Write Star Writer is ...

...Bailey

Big Write was based on the story we read by Pie Corbett called The King of the Birds. Year 4 were quite confused after reading it because there was no mention of a King of the Birds, however, there was a character who was the King of Horses.
After contacting Mr Corbett, he asked if Year 4 could write Part 2, in which the title of the story would become clear.

So, here are some examples of the stories written on Friday called;

King of the Birds part 2

Yesterday we looked at every piece of work produced in Big Writing and using success criteria you generated, we marked them all. Work with 10 points or more went forward to be judged by you. I was pleased you used your vote wisely basing it on the quality of work.
Congratulations to Amber who's work was voted the winning piece this week.

Can you remember the success criteria and give reasons why Amber's story won your vote.

Well done Bailey, you worked very hard on your non-chronological report about Egypt. In it you discussed the differences between poor and rich children and you also named many Egyptian Gods.

Alice

Well done Alice, we are really proud of your super work. Not only did you produce an excellent explanation of your invention but today in the edit and improve session, you made your work even better.

Alice's invention

This is how it works
Alice used her imagination and designed a very unusual and interesting machine. If you look closely you can see how it is powered.

We visited Wallace and Gromit's website  http://www.crackingideas.com and had a go at the Sprocket Rocket game. To play it click here

We are going to spend the rest of the week finding out about explanation texts and designing some more inventions.

It's going to be lots of fun.

BIG Writing

On Friday we had our very first BIG WRITE!
The children came in after a brain break with Mr Walls, to a classroom that was quiet, calm and smelled different too!

The learning target was to write a set of instructions.

I was really pleased with the effort the children put into their work but especially proud of Keira, who is the BIG WRITE STAR OF THE WEEK!!
