  4. I loved the trip to Eden Camp, It was brilliant! My favourite hut was hut 5 because it was dank and interesting. When we first got there it was really exciting and everybody was so hyper to get in and look around. The huts were really fun like in one of the blackout huts, everything that was white glowed bright blue. Thank you Mrs.Warner for taking us on the trip to Eden Camp. Thank you to Miss Horn and Dylans mum And Miss Carr for looking after us too.

  5. Hello Year 4,

Eden Camp looks an interesting place to visit for a war experience. Here in Australia children don't have similar experiences. WWII didn't bring widespread bombing in Australia (from the Japanese in our case).

Towns in northern Australia suffered air attacks but the closest our cities came to attack was when three two man Japanese subs headed for Sydney Harbour. Only one made it into our harbour and launched a torpedo. They missed their target and sank a ferry where sailors were sleeping. All of the Japanese sailors lost their lives in the attack.

My father served in the Australian Army in WWII. He was sent to Singapore as part of the British Forces. When Singapore surrendered to the Japanese, he joined thousands becoming POWs. Some time back I wrote a post about Singapore's involvement in the war and shared photos I had taken there in 2010. Here is a link if you are interested in seeing a little of Britain's involvement in the Asian region during WWII...
