Guided reading and the new spelling contract

This week we started using a new spelling idea I borrowed from Kippax Greenfield Primary School.

The Spelling Contract has lots of suggested activities that are worth points. These points are combined to equal an amount the teacher sets. Together we decided each person had to earn 20 points by the end of the week.

Here are the children in action

First group to use the new spelling contract

Reading own reading material

Guided group with Mrs Warner - reading Children in WWII

Jotting down a useful website address

Activity 11: Ladder

Activity 14: Write an antonym for each spelling

Activity 6: Draw a picture to help you remember the word

Thank you to Mrs Ransome at Kippax Greenfield Primary School for sharing your fabulous idea.

Spellings

Today the children reflected on their knowledge of spellings. We have been using fantastic spelling resources from St Ambrose Barlow Catholic Primary School, to see which spellings the children need to learn next.
