Creating adverts

Over the past couple of weeks, Y4 have been looking at advertisements on the T.V and in magazines. As an extra homework challenge the children brought examples of the adverts they saw and heard.

Y4 have been creating their own advert and this morning it was almost finished. The adverts were displayed on the tables and other children had to identify the features we said made an effective advert.

The adverts are really eye catching and contain examples of persuasion. I especially like the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of Joseph's advert for the Spy Glasses.

What have you learnt about advertisements and the way they are used to persuade people to buy products?

    Advertisements (ads) can be fascinating. They can try to convince us to buy something we may not want or need. They can let us know about coming events and convince us we should attend. They can try to inform us or possibly misinform us.

    Persuasive writing is the power behind ads. Advertisers want us to know why their product is good by only telling us the good features. Would you buy a product if the advertiser wrote...

    Buy our new widget. It's not very good but it's the best we can do.

    By the way, the spy glasses look interesting . £5 seems a fair price.
