Maths week part two

The children have also been working together to design a times-tables board games.

The children then played the games giving feedback to the designers.

It was really enjoyable playing the different games but what the children quickly realised was the importance of clear instructions.

Gold Book

Congratulations to Grace and Hannah.
They both deserve to be in the Gold Book this week because of their mature attitude and reliability in class.
They are both a pleasure to have in class.

Talk homework

Tonight I'd like you to tell your adults all about the visit to Hawthorn Mews.
Try and remember everything you did, saw and asked.

Here is a link to the website if you like to see more photographs and the plan of the street

"Work with who you want" Maths week

This week we combined maths with our theme "Houses and Homes" The children acted as architects and builders to construct a variety of houses using 7 cubes only. The rule was the house had to fit on a square of 4 cubes.
Working in collaboration, the children investigated different types of houses and then they were displayed in the brand new street named Warner Crescent.

Class Councillor

Last week the children in Year 4 were encouraged to think about preparing a speech about why they should be a member of the Student Council.

The children who wanted to be considered for the role gave their presentation and then the class voted for the best person for the job.

I am pleased to announce the Year 4 Councillors are Alice and Davey.

They both prepared a well written speech and presented it extremely well.

Pringles Challenge part 2

Here are the rest of the photos from The Pringle Challenge. We opened the last packages and they were all in perfect condition. Well done to the children of Micklefield Primary School.

I wonder if the pringles we sent have got there in one piece?

Presentation Monday

Today we found out about animation. Jamie and Alice worked incredibly hard and produced a powerpoint presentation. They linked an example of Pivot (a stickman animator) and a stop motion animation called Patricia and the Pathetic Parsnip.

The star of the show.... Patricia
We thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and I think there might be lots of "Animatazz" requests to Santa this year!

BIG WRITE Star writer of the week is ......

Elle

Elle produced a well written non-chronological report about Giant African Land Snails.
She organised her work into topics and used good vocabulary throughout.

Today we marked our own work, highlighting different aspects in different colours.
Can you remember what each colour represented?

Here is a game for you to try all about writing a non-chronological report.
Let me know how you get on.

Classopoly winners

For the third week in a row Y4 have been rewarded for their excellent attendance. They have enjoyed story time with Miss Wadsworth in the first week but unfortunately landed on "GO TO JAIL" last week.

Prison Officer Stevens arrives!!!

The children are ordered to march outside.

They have to wear prison uniforms.

March round the ball court :-(

Some more marching!

If you look closely, they're not marching!! Where is Officer Stevens?

This week I was lucky to spend time with Y4 in the ICT suite. Children decided what they wanted to do on the computer. Some children decided to use  SPEX, a program they have been using in class. Some children did some blogging and some children made animation movies with Pivot.
