Multifaceted learning with a science focus

Multifaceted learning this week had a science focus. The different facets included how to keep ice cold, finding out what the temperature was in different areas of the school and using the sense of touch to identify whether something was very cold, cold, warm or very warm.

Here are photos of the learning taking place.

Multifaceted learning 24th June

Multifaceted sessions this week include Art, ICT and R.E.

In art the children found out about the WW2 embroidery, and how Prisoner of War captive, Major AT Casdagli used embroidery to pass the time and communicate a code. Click here for more information.

In ICT the children used 2animate to make an animation.

In R.E the children learned what life is like being a Sikh.

Big Write - Adverts

Here are the adverts created as part of Big Write on Friday.

  • Can you find yours?
  • Which one do you think is the most effective?
  • Can you explain why?
  • If you did this task again, what would you keep the same and what would you change?

Creating adverts

Over the past couple of weeks, Y4 have been looking at advertisements on the T.V and in magazines. As an extra homework challenge the children brought examples of the adverts they saw and heard.

Y4 have been creating their own advert and this morning it was almost finished. The adverts were displayed on the tables and other children had to identify the features we said made an effective advert.

I will post photos of all the adverts later in the week. Make sure you come back to see them.

Literacy working wall
Creating slogans and catchy phrases
A completed advert - peer assessment
Reading the feedback and acting on it
The adverts are really eye catching and contain examples of persuasion. I especially like the Terms and Conditions at the bottom of Joseph's advert for the Spy Glasses.

What have you learnt about advertisements and the way they are used to persuade people to buy products?
