Learning Log promt

I am really looking forward to seeing your logs in two weeks time.
Your prompt is an open one, so you can do anything you want.

Two fabulous logs have been returned to school this morning.
Well done Amber and Luke A, super work about gymnastics and football superstars.

Gold Book 28th June

Grace is so mature and understands fairness among others. I was particularly pleased to see her stand up for what she believes in this week.

Jamie is such a dedicated Digital Leader, regularly missing his own free time to help other children in the ICT suite. Thank you Jamie

Adverts week 2

Tuesday was spent looking at the adverts and the Big Write winner was chosen.

Here is the winning advert, can you identify the reasons why it was chosen?

The children had to reflect on their work and give suggestions of what would be done to improve - called a wish, other children also gave a star (something they thought was good about it)

A star

These are the things to consider next time

This morning we watched some adverts we might see on the T.V and we discussed the similarities and differences between those on screen and the ones in print.

In groups, the children began to plan their adverts we will film and, hopefully, show on our blog.

The children will continue tomorrow producing their story board and script.

*Homework - look out for an advert and consider the following things

What makes it effective?
What type of language is used?
How does it persuade?
What other features can you see?
Who is the advert aimed at?

World Sports Day 2012

The Year 4 Olympic Committee did a fabulous job today. Mr Walls and Mrs Pound were very well supported by 6 very special individuals.

The whole school gathered together for the opening ceremony.
Glee Club performed Over a Rainbow, the official Olympic mascot song

The Games were officially opened, the committee giving instructions to the whole school.

KS1 children showed of their dancing skills to Proud by Heather Small.

The games began

Year 4 winners

Time for the closing ceremony, this time KS2 performed Anywhere in the World by Katy B

The Olympic Committee, each one the head of a different team.

What a fabulous day, it was a shame we couldn't do it on the field but we didn't let it spoil our fun.

Big Writing task - Adverts

The Big Write task was to produce an advert for one of the six items we are selling in Warner-mart.

Have the children remembered any of the features we have discussed this week?

Leave some feedback, maybe a star and a wish.
