Bye bye Buddy

Buddy is making a snow angel

Angel Buddy

Buddy will be going home with Mrs Warner today and will be picked up by Santa on Christmas Eve. I'm sure he will be telling Santa the names of children who should be on the "nice list"

To our Quad buddies

We have really enjoyed sharing our learning with you and finding out what happens in your classes.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
All the very best for 2013

Merry Christmas Mr Mannell

Thank you for leaving lots of wonderful comments on our blog this year. We love knowing you're looking at our work and enjoy reading your messages.

Buddy and the tuna sandwiches

Thursday was our Christmas party afternoon and because Buddy had opened Mrs Warner's present yesterday, he spent time in her office.
During the party Mrs Horn noticed Buddy wasn't in the office, when we turned around he was face down in some tuna sandwiches!

Michaela said she felt something run over her feet, maybe it was Buddy.

Back to the office for you Buddy.

It will be our last day together tomorrow, I do hope Buddy is on his best behaviour.

Can you write a report to Santa telling him about Buddy and his behaviour. Should be be on the naughty or nice list?

Christmas party

We all had a wonderful afternoon enjoying delicious food and playing fun games. Even Mr Claus paid us a visit.

Here are the photos from today.

Year 4 explore houses through history

For the history and geography part of our Fieldhead Carr Estate Agent's topic, we explored houses through history and houses in our local area.  We ordered some houses chronologically on a timeline and went on a walk through Whinmoor to see the different types of houses around our school.
We also designed and constructed some replica Chembakolli houses, thinking carefully about which materials would be most effective.

A step too far

Buddy has really done it this time.
He was caught opening Mrs Warner's present and climbing inside to see what it was.

I think Buddy might find himself on the naughty list!

Buddy's latest adventure

This morning when we came into class, Buddy was investigating the Christmas tree. Yesterday he was hiding in our model house. We think he was scared of the builders banging and clashing on our roof. Where will he be on Monday?

Sumdog challenge

I was very impressed to see so many of you go along to ICT Tuesday today and log on to Sumdog.

I have been looking at the reports and I can see that Joseph is way ahead with coins, well done Joe!
The games on there will help you with your Learn by heart challenges, so try and use the website.

If you log on you will see a Competition, the aim is to earn as many coins as you can. The person with the most coins will be high up on the leader board. I wonder who will be at the top.

Have fun

Buddy enjoys a bit of art

When we came into the classroom we saw that Buddy was on the stage colouring.
Yesterday Buddy was in the stable.
Buddy watches us all the time and he watches us all.

Introducing Buddy our magic elf

This morning a new friend joined us in Year 4. He arrived in a cold bag along with a letter from a very special man. After reading the letter we found out the elf was magical and came all the way from the North Pole.
Buddy was described as very mischievous. We're not entirely sure what this might mean but when we came back from swimming Gilbert, our class mascot, was in the fruit bowl.

Our new visitor Buddy

Year 4 have decided to keep a record of Buddy's behaviour. Keep coming back to check on Buddy and find out what he gets up to.

Anti bullying Learning Logs

The quality of learning logs this week have been incredible. They contain some very useful advice if you are being bullied and what you could do about it.

The winning log was from Tullyanne.

Golden children 6th December

Dylan is a poet in the making, I really enjoyed reading his poetry this week, especially the one about his little brother.

Megan is in the Gold book again. This time for her commitment to our new "Learn By Heart" challenges.

Talk homework

I would like you to share your knowledge of poetry with your grown ups. What have we learned this week? Tell them about Haiku poems. What is special about these types of poems? Tell them about Kennings.

Can you write a kennings poem? See if they can work out what it is about

Here is our working wall to help you remember.

Classopoly winners

I am so proud of Year 4, they have tried really hard to improve their attendance.
As a school we try to achieve attendance above 97%.
Our previous week's attendance was above this and their counter landed on Morris Mews.

Christmas decoration morning

This morning we invited our parents to come and help us decorate.

Maths this week

Year 4 have been collecting data and showing each other how to represent it. They had a go at drawing their own bar charts, making them using Textease and PurpleMash.

Make your own slideshow with music at Animoto.

Anti bullying posters

Lots of children came to school on Wednesday with anti bullying posters they had made the evening before.

I am really pleased to see Y4 showing such a mature attitude towards this topic.

Here are the anti bullying posters made at home;

Treat Time

There are lots of different rules to follow in Year 4 and Mrs Warner expects children to have very good behaviour.
In September the children had a discussion about the rewards they could earn for having excellent behaviour and attitude.
The ideas were narrowed down to fit a bingo board Mrs Warner saw online.

Over the last few weeks Year 4 have been earning lots of squares but for different areas of the board.
Amazingly, Joshua randomly selected E2 and as a result, everyone in class will be enjoying games next week.

This week is National Anti-bullying week. We will doing lots of different things including wearing our jeans on Thursday and enjoying dance workshops.

Here are a couple of websites you might like to look at.

Newsround

Childline

Beat bullying with Shaun the sheep

Monday 19th November

After watching "Who's side are you on" from the Newsround website, Year 4 planned and performed some drama and freeze framing.

Mrs Warner read a scenario and the class had to write the ending. It was about a boy called Joe who was being bullied by several other children.

Tuesday 20th November

Have a look at this activity on Purple Mash. If you create a Beat Bullying poster bring it to school.
